We are offering an excursion to the Millers Dale station – a popular stop on the Monsal Trail. Emma Stone, head of visitor experience development at the Peak District National Park Authority said: “Our former railway trails are one of the Peak District National Park’s most valued and popular assets, with hundreds of thousands of visitors each year – and locations such as Millers Dale are welcome and iconic stop-offs on these trails. A walk is on relatively flat locations mostly on hard path and the Monsal Trail with short section on footpath from Cressbrook back to the Trail. Transport will be provided.
Saturday, 8th of June, 10.30-15.00

On Saturday we are offering a day to explore Fairholmes and the Upper Derwent Valley. A visit to the Upper Derwent Valley, one of the honeypots of the National Park, with a 3 – 5 mile walk to look at some of the history of the valley. Derwent Dam is a famous local landmarkand has associations with the Dambuster Raids in WWII.
We will also explore the site of Tin Town, which was the ‘navvy village’ where the workers who built the dams in the early 20th Century lived.
A small kiosk supplies refreshments and the Fairholmes Visitor Centre will provide information and suggestions for short, self-guided walks for those that wish to explore independently. Transport will be provided.
